A busy weekend for our Zac!

Today, by popular request, we held our Midsummer Melee at BOSC and what a great day was had by all 30 members, The sun was shining and at 26 degrees it was pretty hot but we had all been sensible and plastered ourselves with sun block, donned hats and kept well hydrated. As you all well know our use of this terrain terminates at the end of the month, so many of us wanted to say a fond farewell to the terrain that had served us very well for several years. Headley & Bordon host 2026 qualifiers

We held our first competition, the traditional Good Friday Open Triples, at our new terrain in Headley on Friday 3 April. It was touch and go for a while as it was only finished and handed over to the club 3 days beforehand. With four different playing surfaces, some players found the very stony terrains challenging with much debate as to their suitability but the requests to leave them as they are, far outweighed those wishing us to change them. For today's Valentine's melee, we had 32 members playing in fabulous sunshine, that's nearly half of the club! Many thanks to Dave Gair who, even though on crutches, ran today's competition beautifully. Janice was her usual star baker and made valentine's cakes which raised £46 for our charity, Cancer Research. In less than a month John and Ian have worked wonders. Despite the dreadful weather, their diggers have been busy, the hard-core is all in and has been vibrated and rolled with a 2 ton roller. This morning, some of the committee went to The Headley Playing Fields and Pavilion to meet John Dorans and his son, Ian who are two of the team that are preparing to start work on our new terrain. As you can see they have already fenced off the area and are marking out the areas to start digging tomorrow (weather permitting!)
