Midsummer Melee 29th August 2026

It was more like Shakespeare's The Tempest than anything related to Midsummer as 31 brave souls faced a good drenching on the Headley Terrain. We all politely ignored the two months that had passed since the actual Midsummer day and with gritted teeth we played our hearts out, some inevitably playing better than the rest of us.

1st was our conquering Captain Colin (who also worked out the results 🧐) with 4 wins and +34, 2nd was the lovely Jan with 4 wins and +33 (recount!), 3rd with 4 wins and +31 was one of the club's many Davids, 4th was Ken with 4 wins and +29 and 5th was Eliot with 3 wins and +25. Our friendliest player for the day was Steve with 4 losses -42 but he was very excited to get his entry money returned.

I think we were all pleased to see the end of the summer drought but look forward to better weather at our next Melee, the "More Millionaire's Melee" on Thursday 1st October under the lights starting at 7pm. There will be 3 timed games, entry fee £3 and prizes will be scratch cards. This replaces the scheduled 19th September Charity Melee.

Jan came 2nd.

David was 3rd.

Ken was placed 4th.

Eliot came 5th.

And a very happy Steve was our friendliest player!
